Mark Giles Classic Tournament 2017

Thanks to Coach Tennell for putting together another amazing Mark Giles Basketball Tournament. This tournament raises money for college scholarships to be given away at Class of 2017 Graduation in June. Mark Giles was a founding senior editor of ESPN The Magazine, who worked to start Business of Sports School (BOSS), a public high school to prepare underserved youth for careers in the sports industry. Sadly, just as the school opened in fall of 2009, Mark was diagnosed with leukemia. He passed away in 2011, but his contribution to New York City students lives on with the achievements of BOSS students. 11th grade sees "Hamilton"

Thanks to the Rockefeller Foundation and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, our 11th grade U.S. History students attended a performance of Hamilton, and were able to meet members of the cast. "The play was really important for me because I myself identify as a minority. The people in the play were all minorities and showed how the real America is today.
