BOSS selected to Participate in the World Series

BOSS formed a new partnership with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) for the 2011-2012 school year. As part of the partnership, BOSS was one of two schools selected to participate in the World Series of Innovation.

Students in the Entrepreneurship class  were divided into groups and were instructed to pick at least one of  six innovation challenges and develop their own new product.

There were six categories each sponsored by an organization. The innovation categories were Mobile Game Design (Microsoft Corporation), Mobile App Design (Microsoft Corporation), Innovative Beverage  (The Coca-Cola Company), New Franchise Idea (Franchise Source Brands International), Sustainable Style (J.C. Penny Company, Inc.) and College and Career Readiness (U.S. Department of Education.

On September 23, volunteers from Ernest & Young worked with the 11th grade Entrepreneurship classes on their group projects.  The groups will take their Ernest & Young mentors feedback and incorporate it for their final submission.

Each submission will include a description of the business opportunity, an explanation of the product or service, analysis of innovation, marketing pitch, report on the customer and a 30-second commercial.
