About Mark Giles: Mark Giles was a founding senior editor of ESPN The Magazine. He also was a member of the founding team for the Business of Sports School working to develop a new type of high school that would prepare New York City’s underserved youth for careers in the sports industry. Sadly, just as the school began in the fall of 2009, Mark was diagnosed with leukemia. He passed away in February 2011. ESPN The Magazine and BOSS dedicate this game to Mark’s lasting contribution to the students of New York. With thanks to Mark’s family, all proceeds will go to the Mark Giles Scholarship Fund, to go to BOSS seniors who exhibit performance consistent with what Mark envisioned for the school.

About BOSS: Business of Sports School (BOSS) opened its doors in September 2009 to 108 9th grade students with the support of BOSS’s partner organizations, New Visions for Public Schools and F·E·G·S Health and Human Guidance Services System. BOSS is a limited unscreened public high school. Students who attend information sessions receive admissions priority, and students are admitted on a lottery basis without regard to background or academic record. Our mission is to prepare our students in the fundamentals of business and entrepreneurship to enter the professional world immediately or for success in two- or four-year business programs.
