Admissions FAQ's

1. How can I obtain an application to Business of Sports School?

Application is made through the NYC Department of Education High School Admission process. If you are a student currently attending 8th grade in a NYC public school, you will receive an application from your middle school counselor before the deadline. 9th grade students interested in applying to 10th grade should request an application from their high school guidance counselors before the deadline.

If you attend a private or parochial school or if you have just moved to NYC, please contact the Office of Student Enrollment at the NYC Department of Education at 212-374-0291 or 212-374-6769 for information on obtaining an application.

Please code your application with our Admissions Code A14A.

2. What is the deadline for applications?

The deadline to submit an application to your guidance counselor for September 2012 is December 2, 2011.

3. Can students who live outside of Manhattan apply?

We accept students from all five boroughs, so you do not need to live in a certain borough or district to apply; however, we do give preference to students who live in Manhattan.

4. What is the selection criteria for admission to Business of Sports School?

We do not select students based on academic criteria. Students are randomly selected by the Department of Education out of our pool of applicants. Applicants who attend an Open House at the school receive preference in that lottery.

5. How many applications do you receive?

For the Class of 2015, we received 1,484 applications for 108 9th grade seats.

6. When are the Open Houses?

Please click here for the Open Houses times on Tuesday, October 25 and Tuesday, November 15.
